  • Social Services Complex for Men

    is a Home for differently-abled men. U&I works with the men in the Home to provide vocational training, special education, hygiene and healthcare. Our volunteers also spend time with the men every single week, providing much-need social interaction. It’s a simple task, but for these men who have no chance to leave the Home, it’s the only contact they have with the outside world. It reaffirms their value and changes their perspective.

  • Institute for Mentally Handicapped Children

    is a Home for destitute special needs boys between the ages of 8 and 21. U&I began work in IMHC even before we were formally registered as a Trust and has increased our involvement over the last seven years. Our program in this Home includes special needs classes, healthcare and hygiene and physiotherapy. We are also training the boys in several vocational skills, including mat making, basket weaving, painting and gardening.

    • The boys are given a bath daily by the male caretakers

    • Brushing of teeth is done daily

    • Nails are cut once a week

    • A group of people from NEP organization came to cut the boys hair

    • The boys home celebrates all the birthdays once a year with joyous carnival themed party

    • Children’s day was celebrated

    is a state-run institute for special needs, abandoned women. U&I works with these women to improve their social and vocational skills, as well as provide life skills training for them.

    is a Remand Home for women who have been rescued from bonded labor and trafficking. U&I provides counseling through a certified psychologist, vocational training in skills like jewelry making and pot painting.

  • Shishu Mandir

    is a Home for abandoned babies and toddlers, including those with special needs. U&I assists with care of these children, as well as conducts a preschool to engage these children who are otherwise lack a structured routine through the day. We also conduct physiotherapy for those children who are differently abled. We celebrate their birthdays, teach them rhymes, make sure they are well fed, play games with them – we make sure we share the joy of childhood with these children who have faced severe neglect.

    • Toddlers were toilet trained and a few of them now do not require diapers anymore.

    • The children were taught how to wash their hands before and after meals

    • De-worming has been done for the children

    • There were children with lice that were treated

    • Cutting of nails is done weekly.
